Every year there is a wonderful tasting of Beaujolais wines mostly from the smaller producers – I think there were about 200 in all (plus 21 guests from other regions) showing across three venues, the Châteaux de Corcelles, Pizay and Ravatys. No way that anybody can get to every stand over a day and a half but I had a great opportunity to taste at a good number of top domaines.

It’s a relatively hip affair – I may have been the only clean shaven man there. Certainly I tasted more wines which have been made without sulphur (before bottling at any rate) and found relatively few deviations. The Wild Child approach is becoming mainstream. Report on the wines to follow.
