The two domaines, Château de Maligny and Domaine de l’Eglantière, now cover over 200 hectares – making this the largest independent ownership in Burgundy, according to the Durups. Under either label you can buy Petit Chablis, five different cuvées of Chablis and premiers crus Fourchaume, l’Homme Mort and Vau de Vey. This last was one of the new 1ers crus promoted in 1978, when it was scarcely under vine. Jean Durup planted up a significant holding, half of which has recently been sold enabling such producers as Lavantureux and de Moor to purchase a slice of 1er Cru when they had none before. Jean-Paul Durup, now in charge, is married to Stéphanie Colinot from Irancy.
