Patrice du Jeu, Parisian restaurateur, responded positively in 2011 when told of a small Chassagne-Montrachet domaine that was up for sale, with vineyards in Chassagne and what has become the monopoly of the substantial Mercurey 1er Cru Clos Marcilly. He is supported by oenologist Jean-Baptiste Alinc.
The domaine, close by the church, is based in some interesting, partly renovated but still somewhat ramshackle buildings with superb underground cellars. Here the barrels are lodged, increasingly of 400 litre format, with typically 20% new wood. The vineyards are now ploughed and what is now lutte raisonnée may move towards organic.
